Italy’s Meloni calls for urgent US-EU summit amid growing divisions

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has called for an urgent summit between the United States, European Union countries, and their allies to address major global challenges, with Ukraine at the top of the agenda.

In a statement released on February 28, Meloni emphasized the need for Western unity, warning that internal divisions only serve their adversaries.

“Every division in the West weakens us and benefits those who wish to see our civilization decline,” she stated.

Her remarks come in the wake of a heated verbal exchange at the White House between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, underscoring growing tensions over continued Western support for Ukraine.
