Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has accused European institutions of applying double standards in their response to protests in Georgia and other European countries, alleging that actions encouraged and funded from abroad in Georgia are now unfolding within Europe itself.
Kaladze said that in recent years, violent groups had been established and funded in Georgia, while foreign diplomats and European prime ministers had allegedly encouraged demonstrators by appearing at protest rallies.
“What happened in Georgia was not accidental. All of this was funded. Their actions have now been laid bare, and the public knows who acted against Georgia and how,” Kaladze said.
He argued that European countries were now experiencing the same unrest that Georgia had faced in previous years.
“You can see what is happening now. Of course, violence is unacceptable. The level of violence we are seeing in the footage is unimaginable,” he said.
