Mayor Kaladze links opposition election support to its “non-state-oriented” actions

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has linked the opposition’s performance in a recent International Republican Institute (IRI) poll on parliamentary elections to its “non-state-oriented” actions and alleged reliance on instructions from abroad.

A slide circulating on social media and purportedly showing the results of an International Republican Institute survey puts Georgian Dream at 36% in party ratings, followed by the United National Movement at 5%.

According to the circulated slide, Girchi led by Iago Khvichia, the Labour Party, Giorgi Gakharia’s For Georgia and Ahali each receive 2%.

Anna Dolidze’s For People, Zurab Japaridze’s Girchi - More Freedom, Strategy Agmashenebeli and the People’s Party are each listed at 1%.

“Research is not even necessary for people to determine what is happening on the political scene and which political party has public support. When you do not serve your country and your actions are driven by instructions received from abroad, you will not have public support,” Kaladze told reporters on Tuesday.
