Georgian Dream Says Ivanishvili Declared Party’s Past Corruption Challenges Fully Resolved

Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party said its founder and honorary chairman, Bidzina Ivanishvili, had reviewed past corruption-related problems within the party and declared that they had been fully and effectively addressed.

The statement followed a meeting of the party’s Political Council at its Gorgasali headquarters in Tbilisi on Saturday, October 17, attended by all council members, including Ivanishvili.

According to the party, Ivanishvili thanked members of the ruling team for their work and assessed corruption-related challenges that had previously emerged within Georgian Dream.

He said the challenges had been fully overcome through what he described as the effective work of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the government and law enforcement agencies.

The party did not provide further details about the specific corruption cases discussed or the measures taken to address them.

Georgian Dream also announced changes to the composition of its Political Council, with parliamentary majority leader Irakli Kirtskhalia and Zurab Pataradze, chairman of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, joining the party’s governing body.

Following the Political Council meeting, discussions continued in an expanded format involving members of the ruling parliamentary majority.

According to the party’s statement, participants reviewed ongoing political and economic developments in Georgia, as well as recently announced government initiatives and reforms.

The parliamentary majority meeting was conducted in a discussion format, allowing members to exchange views on current issues facing the country.

The October 17 meeting and Ivanishvili’s attendance were also reported by Georgia’s public broadcaster.
