Ukrainian forces have captured another settlement in the Kursk region of Russia, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During a visit to the border zone in the Sumy region, Zelenskyy met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, and the head of the Sumy Military Administration.

“The Commander-in-Chief presented a report on the operational situation across all active combat areas and outlined steps to strengthen defenses in the Toretsk and Pokrovsky directions. In certain areas of the Kursk region, another settlement has come under Ukrainian control, and we have expanded our exchange fund,” said Zelenskyy.

He added that the Commander-in-Chief also discussed the activities of the military commandant in the newly controlled area. Additionally, the head of the Sumy Military Administration provided an update on the situation in Sumy following the start of the Kursk operation.

“There has been a decrease in the number of bombings and civilian casualties,” the president noted.
