Man arrested in Rustavi on charges of human trafficking, rape, threats against disabled victim

Police in Rustavi, central Georgia, have arrested a man born in 1987, previously convicted of other crimes, on charges of threatening, human trafficking, and rape involving a person with a disability, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Thursday.
According to investigators, the suspect, identified as V.K., allegedly used threats of physical violence to force the victim, identified as D.S., who has a disability, to beg on the streets and hand over the money collected to him.
The investigation also determined that the suspect repeatedly engaged in non-consensual sexual acts with the victim by using physical violence.
Following operational and investigative measures, law enforcement officers detained V.K. as the alleged perpetrator.
The offenses carry a potential sentence of nine to fourteen years in prison.
