Georgia’s Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili on Tuesday said the country’s participation as a guest of honour at a major international import expo in Shanghai presented a “significant chance” to boost Georgian exports to China.

Khutsishvili described the China International Import Expo (CIIE) as a “unique opportunity” for Georgian companies to build partnerships with Chinese firms and fully utilise the country’s export potential in new sectors.

“Exports have been the driving force of our economic growth for several years,” the minister stated, emphasising the importance of expanding access to large markets such as China.

Dozens of Georgian companies are showcasing their products at the event, which is regarded as one of the world’s largest platforms for import promotion and trade cooperation.
