Lawyers of imprisoned former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili say that the latter may use an extreme form of protest again if an independent group of doctors are not allowed to see him in Rustavi prison and if his meetings with lawyers will be eavesdropped.

Saakashvili was transferred to Gori military hospital on November 19 after a 50-day hunger strike.

He has recently been taken back to Rustavi prison No.12 as ‘he has undergone a post-hunger strike rehabilitation there.’

Saakashvili and his supporters say that the health of the third president remains poor.  The former president, who is now a citizen of Ukraine, was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1 after eight years in political exile.

He is now serving a sentence for abuse of power.
