Levan Mgaloblishvili, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, has announced his resignation. He shared the news via his official Facebook page.
“After consultations with the team and the Prime Minister, I have made the decision to resign from my position,” Mgaloblishvili wrote. He emphasized that despite stepping down, he remains committed to defending the rights of temporarily displaced citizens living on both sides of the Enguri River.
He expressed his gratitude to the staff of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, ministry employees, members of the Supreme Council, and the thousands of displaced persons he personally met during his tenure. “Together, we managed to implement small but meaningful and productive projects,” he noted.
Levan Mgaloblishvili was appointed Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia on September 18, 2024. During his term, he focused on responding to the needs of people living in the conflict zone and advancing humanitarian initiatives.
