Judges at Georgia’s Constitutional Court still have a chance to make history by finding the strength and dignity to save what remains of democracy in the country, Levan Tsutskiridze, leader of the Freedom Square movement, has said.

“The history of some people has already been written, including those who filed this lawsuit. We all know how they will go down in history. But the history of the judges who still have the opportunity to decide how they will be remembered has yet to be written,” Tsutskiridze said.

“They can go down in history like the others from Georgian Dream, or as people who found the strength and dignity at the right moment to save the remaining fragments of democracy that still exist in this country,” he added.

Tsutskiridze said injustice must always be challenged, regardless of the circumstances.

Georgia’s Constitutional Court is due to begin hearings on a lawsuit seeking to have five opposition political forces declared unconstitutional on Wednesday.
