Levan Tsutskiridze, leader of the political movement Freedom Square, on Friday the need to demonstrate that there was a substantial portion of society capable of being entrusted with governance.
Tsutskiridze said that many citizens recognize the need for change in the current political landscape.
"We need to show the public that there is a significant segment of society composed of knowledgeable, professional individuals who know how to get things done. These are the people who can be entrusted with governance and decision-making. Without forming a strong civic alternative, meaningful change will be difficult. It may not be sufficient, but it is necessary."
He added, "a large part of society realizes that we no longer want the current situation, and it must change. Now, we need to clearly understand what we want and the direction we are heading, so that we can walk this path together. What is happening now, what the ruling party is doing, is a test for the country. We must overcome it, otherwise the consequences will be very serious."
