Head of the Georgian Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani has said the Government Efficiency Department generated GEL 118 million in financial impact in the first four months of 2026, including GEL 88 million in direct savings from public tenders.
Speaking on Business Insider on Monday, Zhorzholiani said the department, which has been operating since June 2025, works closely with the Government Administration's market research and procurement units.
He said additional savings amounting to tens of millions of lari had been achieved through inspections conducted on a random-selection basis.
According to Zhorzholiani, the department is also seeking to strengthen its advisory role by providing government agencies with recommendations on improving efficiency and preventing problems before direct intervention becomes necessary.
He said the department, together with the State Procurement Agency, had developed amendments to procurement legislation and contributed to the launch of a centralised procurement body aimed at further reducing corruption risks.
Zhorzholiani also said an electronic market research module had processed procurement market research worth GEL 4 billion, with 75% of cases ending with a positive outcome.
He added that the Government Efficiency Department and the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau, working with the Infrastructure Ministry, had established reference prices for construction-related costs, including labour, materials and machinery.
Zhorzholiani also said transparency and accountability were among the prime minister's priorities, noting that all government decisions, decrees and resolutions adopted since February 2024 were publicly accessible.
