White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday said Russia refrained from launching any invasions during Donald Trump’s presidency because it had “great respect” for him and his policies.

“Russia invaded Georgia under President Bush, took Crimea under President Obama, and invaded Ukraine under President Biden. Under President Trump, Russia invaded nowhere and took nothing,” Leavitt said.

She praised Trump’s recent diplomatic efforts.

“For three and a half years now, there has been a brutal war between Russia and Ukraine - a conflict that has cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Russians and Ukrainians and trillions of dollars. Former US President Joe Biden’s weakness and incompetence allowed this bloodshed to begin. Undoubtedly, Biden’s policies have pushed the world further away from peace,” she noted.

Leavitt stressed that Russia’s restraint during Trump’s presidency was due to its “deep respect for President Trump and his policies.”
