Senior Republican Senator Lindsey Graham on Saturday said he was “cautiously optimistic” the Russia-Ukraine war could “end well” by Christmas if a trilateral meeting was held between the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.

“If there is a trilateral meeting between President Donald Trump, President [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy and [Vladimir] Putin, then I am cautiously optimistic that this war will end well before Christmas”, Graham wrote in a social media post.

“If the meeting doesn’t happen, I think President Trump may deliver severe consequences to Putin and those who buy his oil and gas”, he added.
