Maia Bitadze, chair of the Georgian Parliament's Environmental Protection Committee, said Georgia remains a “constructive, reliable and responsible partner”, during her address at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's annual session in The Hague.
Bitadze said Georgia will continue contributing to regional connectivity, sustainable development and strengthening Europe's economic resilience, adding that genuine partnership must be based on respect for sovereignty, equal treatment of states and respect for the democratic choices of every nation.
In her speech, Bitadze said Georgia remains committed to strengthening Europe's economic and energy security, highlighting the country's role as a bridge between Europe, the South Caucasus and the Caspian region through the Middle Corridor. She also pointed to projects such as the Black Sea submarine cable and the Green Energy Corridor, describing them as strategic investments in Europe's long-term energy diversification and resilience.
Bitadze also criticised what she described as attempts by "some political forces and bureaucratic circles" to deepen political polarisation in Georgia and exert pressure on the country's democratically elected Government. She argued that such approaches undermine trust in international institutions, including the OSCE, rather than strengthening democracy and international cooperation.
