Former Georgian CoE Ambassador warns of escalating unrest against Gov’t

Former Georgian Ambassador to the Council of Europe Mamuka Zhgenti has accused the ruling Georgian Dream party of driving society to a breaking point, warning that public unrest is likely to grow.

“The Georgian Dream has brought society to a point where it is no longer possible to tolerate anything,” he said. “Those who want to live in Europe and not a Russian province have no other solution, so this process will inevitably continue.”

He criticized what he described as “hypocrisy” in public discourse and called for clarity from all citizens, including athletes and cultural figures. “The attitude of these people, the hypocrisy that is felt in their words, is unacceptable,” he added.

Zhgenti also warned of mounting strain on the Ministry of Internal Affairs, predicting it “will not be able to withstand everything for long,” and foreseeing a potential breakdown in the system.
