An individual has attacked United National Movement (UNM) party head Nika Melia shortly before, when he was giving an interview at a polling station No.62 in Vazisubani, where electricity was turned off for a while.

Melia claimed that the light was deliberately switched off by the ruling Georgian Dream party to fabricate the votes.

The man approached Melia from the back and hit him.

Police have detained one individual in the incident. At the same polling station a verbal conflict also took place between Melia and the Georgian Dream ruling party member Beka Davituliani.

“Due to the blackout for several minutes, Melia is demanding the annulment of results in the polling station,” Davituliani said.

GD head Irakli Kobakhidze said ‘where Melia is, there is a provocation.’
