As part of the Georgian delegation’s visit to China, several high-level bilateral meetings are scheduled to take place, including with the Chinese Premier Li Qiang and the Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zheng, Georgia Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili told journalists on Monday in Shanghai.

Kvrivishvili added the visit marked an important step in deepening relations between Georgia and China, with several significant memorandums of understanding set to be signed.

“Led by the Prime Minister, we will hold high-level bilateral meetings, including with China’s Premier and the Mayor of Shanghai. We will also have the opportunity to sign several important memorandums that will elevate trade and economic cooperation between our countries to a new level, as well as strengthen people-to-people ties”, Kvrivishvili said.

She noted that these agreements would “soon bring tangible results”, boosting trade turnover and strengthening economic ties.

“It is very important that our relations with China continue to deepen. We are confident that the memorandums and meetings during this visit will soon yield visible outcomes, improving trade turnover and expanding economic cooperation”, the Minister added.

Kvrivishvili also noted that Georgian entrepreneurs accompanying the delegation would participate in the China International Import Expo, where Georgia was featured for the first time as a guest of honour.

“Our entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to establish partnerships with major Chinese corporations, which will help promote the export of Georgian products to China”, she said.
