Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, the country’s former President, claims that if Sweden and Finland become members of NATO, they will be perceived as official opponents of Russia.

He has made the statement via his Telegram channel.

Medvedev said that NATO intends to accept  Finland and Sweden easily, through “minimal bureaucracy.”

He said that the NATO-Russia border will double after the accession of these countries, and that Russia would strengthen the protection of its borders.

Finland and Sweden have announced their intention to join NATO following the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine.

Before the war, Russia demanded the West to hamper NATO enlargement.
