Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs on Thursday said its Migration Department has deported 126 foreign nationals from the country following a series of operations carried out in recent days in coordination with other ministry units.
Those deported were citizens of Turkey, India, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Nigeria, Jordan, Burundi, Sudan, China, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Lebanon, Moldova, the Philippines, and several other countries.
The ministry said that 2,036 foreign nationals residing illegally in Georgia have been deported during the first six months of 2026, a figure it said significantly exceeds the total number recorded during the whole of last year.
The ministry also noted that from 1 July 2026, selected provisions of amendments to Georgia's Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons came into force.
According to the ministry, the new regulations are intended to address current migration challenges, establish more effective mechanisms for managing migration processes and strengthen state security.
