Georgia deports 55 foreign citizens in migration enforcement operation

Georgia's Interior Ministry on Tuesday said it had deported 55 foreign nationals following a series of migration enforcement operations carried out over recent days.

The operation was conducted by the Migration Department in close coordination with other Interior Ministry units.

Those deported were citizens of Turkey, India, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Somalia, Armenia, Sudan, Thailand, Egypt, Iraq and several other countries.

The ministry said the individuals were removed from Georgia in accordance with the country's migration legislation.

Under current Georgian law, all of those deported have also been banned from re-entering the country, the Interior Ministry said.
