Georgia deports 78 foreign nationals in latest migration crackdown

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs on Wednesday said 78 foreign nationals have been deported from the country in recent days as part of operations carried out by its Migration Department in coordination with other ministry units.

Those deported were citizens of India, Türkiye, Egypt, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Jordan, Sri Lanka and several other countries.

The ministry added the deportees had been banned from re-entering Georgia in accordance with the country’s legislation.

The Interior Ministry said on 8 September that nearly 3,000 people had already been deported from Georgia in 2026, exceeding the total recorded in the previous year.

The ministry has also reported several large-scale deportation operations in recent months, including the removal of 102 foreign nationals in July and 93 in early September.
