Georgia’s Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze and China’s National Health Commission Minister Lei Haichao have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in digital healthcare, pharmaceutical regulation and medical workforce development.
The agreement provides for sharing experience and best practices in health information systems, electronic medical records, telemedicine, healthcare data analytics and digital technologies, the ministry press office said.
The memorandum also envisages the exchange of best practices in pharmaceutical product regulation, as well as joint projects in education, continuing professional development and strengthening the capabilities of healthcare workers.
Sarjveladze highlighted the importance of the partnership between Georgia and China, saying the cooperation would help improve the quality and efficiency of the healthcare system and ensure continuity of treatment.
The memorandum was signed in Beijing on the sidelines of an international forum focused on strengthening primary healthcare and traditional medicine. Georgia’s ambassador to China, Paata Kalandadze, also attended the event.
