Fire breaks out at Ust-Luga port after overnight drone attack on Russia

A fire broke out at Russia's Ust-Luga port in the Leningrad region after an overnight drone attack, according to regional Governor Alexander Drozdenko.

Drozdenko said the attack began at 02:53 local time on Friday and that damage was recorded in the port area. By 06:21, Russian air defences had shot down 51 drones over the Leningrad region, he said.

"Damage was recorded in the area of Ust-Luga port. As a result of the damage, a fire broke out at the port," Drozdenko wrote on social media.

Drone attacks were also reported over Moscow. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the attacks began at 23:44 on Thursday, with air defences initially shooting down two drones. By 06:00, he said, 10 drones had been intercepted.

The aerial threat also disrupted air traffic at St Petersburg's Pulkovo International Airport, which entered a special operating regime from 03:03.

The reported drone interceptions and damage have not been independently verified.
