The New York Times has reported Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked US President Donald Trump on Wednesday to postpone any plans for a military strike against Iran. The request came after Trump received information indicating that Iran had stopped killing protesters.

The report also notes that Gulf states including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Egypt urged the US not to attack, warning of a potential wider regional conflict. Both Washington and Tehran were reportedly informed of these concerns.

The White House and Netanyahu’s office declined to comment. Iran has since reopened its airspace to commercial flights.
