Former US President Barack Obama has accused the White House of yielding to Russian President Vladimir Putin and abandoning Ukraine, while criticising President Donald Trump’s policies on Iran and the economy.
“While we alienate allies like Canada, the White House is bowing to Putin and selling out Ukrainians who are fighting for freedom and democracy,” Obama said.
He also blamed the Trump administration for choosing to pursue war and impose tariffs, arguing that these decisions were contributing to rising prices and higher petrol costs.
Obama further criticised Trump’s decision to attack Iran, saying the country had not possessed nuclear weapons and that its nuclear programme had been limited.
“I created an agreement that restricted Iran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons. I didn’t have to launch missiles; I used diplomacy,” Obama said, referring to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal negotiated during his presidency.
