Georgia’s First Deputy Defence Minister, Paata Patiashvili, on Thursday addressed the growing importance of artificial intelligence in today’s security environment and stressed the need for responsibility in its use while speaking at an international summit in Spain.
Patiashvili participated in the Third Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM) Summit, held in A Coruña. The Defence Ministry’s press service said he attended the event at the invitation of Spain’s Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares.
The summit serves as a global platform bringing together representatives of government, private industry and civil society to exchange views on the use of artificial intelligence in the military sphere and the ethical and security challenges linked to emerging technologies.
During the summit, the Minister held a meeting with his Spanish counterpart, Admiral Juan Francisco Martínez Núñez. The sides discussed current cooperation in the defence sector and prospects for further strengthening ties between the two countries.
