The head of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Ilia II, participated in the local government elections on Saturday, casting his ballot through a mobile ballot box, the Georgian Patriarchate announced.

“Today, October 4, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, took part in the local self-government elections,” the Patriarchate said in a statement.
