Pashinyan: Armenia seeks additional electricity imports from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran and Türkiye

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia needs options for importing additional electricity, including from Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as Iran and Türkiye.

“There are different electricity consumption regimes, and sometimes countries have surplus electricity, while at other times they face increased demand. We are also discussing the possibility of importing electricity with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran and Türkiye,” Pashinyan said.

He added a project was also underway to build a converter station near the Georgian border with EU funding, which would facilitate electricity imports and exports and strengthen Armenia’s electricity interconnection with neighboring countries.
