New heads of Revenue Service and Finance Ministry’s Investigation Service appointed

The Georgian PM has appointed Mamuka Baratashvili as head of the Revenue Service and Merab Gamkrelidze as head of the Finance Ministry’s Investigation Service.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with the newly appointed officials together with Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, the Government press office said on Monday.

Kobakhidze congratulated Baratashvili and Gamkrelidze on their appointments and wished them success in their new positions.

Baratashvili has extensive experience within the Finance Ministry system, the press office said. He served as first deputy head of the Revenue Service from 2020 to 2021 and headed the ministry’s Tax and Customs Policy Department from 2011 to 2020. He has also held senior positions in the Revenue Service’s Dispute Department and Legal Department.

Gamkrelidze previously headed the Revenue Service’s Legal Department and has extensive experience in the Investigation Service, the press office added.

Over the course of his career, he has served as deputy head of the Investigation Department, head of its Adjara and Guria divisions, and deputy head of the Tbilisi Main Division. He has also served as deputy head of the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau and as deputy head of the Regional Relations Department at the Government Administration.
