Finland, UK launch joint military exercises near Russian border

Finland and the United Kingdom have begun joint military exercises in the town of Kuhmo, located close to the Russian border, involving British troops and around 600 pieces of military equipment.
According to Finnish authorities, about 3,000 service members are taking part in the drills, including 600 reservists.
The goal of the exercise is to train forces for defensive, delay, offensive and nighttime combat operations under the challenging conditions of northern Finland.
Around 600 vehicles are participating, including battle tanks. The drills also involve two NH90 transport helicopters and one MD 500 light helicopter from the Utti Jaeger Regiment. Various types of unmanned aerial vehicles will also be used throughout the training.
