Polish authorities have deported 40 individuals—27 Georgian and 13 Moldovan nationals—on grounds of national security, public safety, and illegal stay, the country’s Border Guard announced on July 15. The deportations were carried out with support from the EU border agency Frontex via a coordinated charter flight from the city of Radom.
According to the Polish Border Guard, 20 of the Georgian nationals were expelled due to concerns linked to “national defense or state security” and the “protection of public safety and order.” One Georgian reportedly had 12 theft convictions, while others were removed for offenses such as drunk driving or unlawful residence.
Authorities also noted that several of those deported were involved in illegal border-crossing facilitation and identity fraud schemes. The agency did not clarify which nationalities were implicated in these activities.
In a similar operation earlier this year, Polish authorities expelled 17 Georgian nationals in March, citing criminal histories and violations of immigration laws.
