The law enforcement have forced the United National Movement opposition party members in Zugdidi City Assembly of western Georgia, who have been on hunger strike in solidarity with former president Mikheil Saakashvili, to leave the hall of the City Assembly where they brought mattresses earlier today.
Four UNM members and one doctor went on hunger strike in Zugdidi City Assembly on November 15.
They are demanding the transfer of Saakashvili to a civilian clinic.
They brought mattresses to the hall of the building today to protest the ‘hasty approval’ of municipal budgets by the ruling Georgian Dream party, before the new convocation of city assemblies started work following the recent municipal elections.
Ruling party MP Sozar Subari says that City Assemblies decide themselves, without the involvement of the central government, on which date to discuss or approve their budgets.
