A Polish medical team has been granted access to imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili.  No date yet when they will travel to Georgia, and this is not about a transfer of the former President to Poland or elsewhere, Rikard Jozwiak, Europe editor of RFE/RL cited an European Union official as saying on Thursday.

Saakashvili was arrested in Tbilisi in October 2021. He is now receiving treatment in the Vivamedi civilian clinic in the Georgian capital.

Tbilisi city court and court of appeals rejected Saaakshvili’s transfer abroad on health grounds earlier this year.
