Three arrested in western Georgia over methadone trafficking

Georgian police have arrested three people, including two foreign nationals, on suspicion of possessing exceptionally large quantities of narcotics and facilitating their distribution, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

Officers from the Adjara Police Department carried out searches of the suspects' persons and temporary residences, where they seized an “exceptionally large quantity” of methadone prepared for sale.

Police also confiscated materials allegedly used for packaging narcotics.

If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years' imprisonment or life in prison.
