Two foreign nationals arrested in Tbilisi on drug charges

Two foreign nationals have been arrested in Tbilisi on charges of jointly and illegally purchasing and possessing a particularly large quantity of drugs and facilitating their sale, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

According to the ministry, officers of the Old Tbilisi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department searched the suspects, their vehicle and temporary residence, as well as several other locations. A particularly large quantity of the narcotic substance methadone was seized as evidence.

Police also seized materials allegedly intended for packaging drugs.

The offences carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
