Police solve series of 12 car thefts in Tbilisi

Officers of the Vake-Saburtalo Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with a string of vehicle thefts in the capital, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Saturday.

The detainee, identified as J.K., born in 2006, has been charged with theft, a crime punishable by up to five years in prison.

The investigation said on the night of October 13, J.K. damaged the windshields of 12 cars parked in the Saburtalo district and stole various items from inside the vehicles.

Law enforcement officers detained the suspect shortly after conducting investigative and operational activities. During questioning, J.K. also confessed to another theft committed on October 8 in the Africa settlement area.

Police have recovered part of the stolen items, which have been seized as evidence.
