Man arrested after attempted murder of former wife in Tbilisi

Police in Tbilisi have arrested a man on suspicion of attempting to murder his former wife under aggravating circumstances.

Investigators alleged that the suspect attacked the woman with a bladed weapon following a previous conflict between them.

The victim sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Police officers from the Isani-Samgori Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department detained the suspect shortly after the incident following operational and investigative measures.

The ministry said the investigation is being conducted on suspicion of attempted intentional murder of a family member under aggravating circumstances.

If convicted, the suspect could face up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
