EP President Metsola: Iran must be free

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, has stated that Iran must be free, stressing that no new generation of Iranians should inherit fear from birth.

In a post on social media, Metsola said the Iranian people have lived under a violent theocracy for as long as she has been alive.

“The people of Iran have been under the boot of a forceful theocracy for as long as I have been alive - living under a regime that refuses to tolerate dissent, pluralism or liberty. 47 years is too long to scream in silence. No new generation of Iranians should inherit fear as their birthright,” she wrote.
