US Secretary of State Rubio congratulates Georgia on Independence Day

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has congratulated the Georgian people on the occasion of Georgia’s Independence Day.

In a congratulatory statement, Rubio said the year offered new opportunities to deepen ties between the American and Georgian people and to support the security and prosperity of both countries.

The US secretary of state reaffirmed Washington’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.

Rubio also said the United States stood alongside the Georgian people in their pursuit of lasting security, freedom and independence, and remained committed to a partnership aligned with Georgia’s aspirations for a secure and prosperous future.
