Anri Okhanashvili, a member of the Georgian Dream ruling party and Vato Tsereteli, a founder of TV Pirveli channel allegedly attacked each other at the US Embassy headquarters on Thursday, during an event dedicated to America’s independence day.

Ruling party MP Irakli Zarkua suggested on social media that it was a pre-planned provocation against Okhanashvili and dismissed allegations by the channel that four GD members attacked Tsereteli.

As he wrote on social media,Tsereteli came to Okhanashvili and insulted him.

The US embassy said that it was aware of the altercation “during our Independence Day event on the Embassy compound. We are looking into these reports.”

Tsereteli claimed that Georgian Dream lawmakers assaulted him on the territory of the US Embassy.

“Georgian Dream MPs attacked me on the territory of the US Embassy ,where 200 or 300 guests were present. I am shocked. I appeal to Kelly Degnan to make the footage public,” Tsereteli said.
