Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reiterated Georgia’s potential inclusion in the 3+3 regional cooperation format, during a press conference.

“We actively supported the initiative proposed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to establish the 3+3 mechanism – the three South Caucasus countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia) and their three neighbors (Russia, Turkey, Iran),” Lavrov stated.

According to Lavrov, the platform remains open for Georgia.

“Initial contacts have already taken place. Our Georgian neighbors have not yet taken their designated seat, but this place at the table where we discuss regional issues will always remain available for them,” he emphasized.

The 3+3 format aims to address regional challenges and promote economic and security cooperation, but Georgia has been cautious about joining due to its complex relationship with Russia.
