Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has sharply criticized US President Donald Trump’s recent decision to shorten the deadline given to Vladimir Putin for reaching a peace deal on Ukraine.
In a post on X, Medvedev wrote:
“Trump's playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10… He should remember two things:
Russia isn't Israel or even Iran.
Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country.”
Medvedev warned that Trump is following the path of “Sleepy Joe,” using ultimatums that, according to him, provoke direct confrontation not with Russia, but with the United States itself.
Trump announced earlier today that he is reducing the original 50-day deadline he gave to Putin on July 14 to just 10–12 days, citing lack of progress on ending the war in Ukraine.
