Several protesters detained during Rustaveli demonstration in central Tbilisi

Several participants of a protest on Rustaveli Avenue in central Tbilisi, including poet Paata Shamugia, were detained on Tuesday.

Also arrested were civil activists Nika Darsania, Vazha Berishvili and Beka Agulashvili. All face charges of blocking the roadway.

Rustaveli Avenue was closed today as well as the protest continued. Participants said they were not afraid of reprisals and vowed to carry on with their demonstrations.
