Georgia’s election administration prepares electronic voting technology for 3 October by-elections

Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has completed the diagnostic and final software configuration of electronic voting equipment ahead of the 3 October by-elections, the election administration said on Wednesday.

A total of eight electronic voting and vote-counting machines, nine voter verification devices and seven tablets have been prepared for the elections. Three of the tablets will be used at polling stations where voting will be conducted using traditional procedures.

The CEC’s logistics team has already delivered the electronic equipment to the relevant district election commissions according to a pre-established schedule. The district commissions will in turn provide the equipment to precinct election commissions on the day before the vote.

A total of seven polling stations will operate for the 3 October by-elections. Electronic voter verification and vote-counting devices will be used at four of the seven polling stations.
