Georgia’s Investigation Service uncovers 61 cases of illegal cigarette trade since May

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance has uncovered 61 cases involving the storage, transportation and sale of large quantities of unexcised tobacco products since 1 May, the Ministry said on Friday.
During the same period, criminal charges were brought against 83 individuals, 38 of whom have been arrested, the body added.
Investigators seized 63,852 packs of unexcised cigarettes and electronic cigarettes intended for sale, with a total estimated market value of ₾387,864 ($148,336).
