The trilateral special operations exercise Caucasus Eagle 2026, involving the special operations forces of Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, has officially begun in Georgia.
The opening ceremony for the field tactical drills was held at the Major Gela Chedia Special Operations Training Centre in Mukhrovani military base. The event was attended by Georgian First Deputy Defence Minister Paata Patiashvili, Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Mustafa Türker Arı and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev.
The Defence Ministry said the drills aim to enhance coordination and interoperability among the special operations units of the three countries, deepen operational synchronisation and facilitate the exchange of experience.
The exercise focuses on small-unit tactics and the execution of special operations tasks. A joint evaluation team composed of representatives from all three participating countries will monitor the training activities.
The Caucasus Eagle trilateral exercise is held annually on a rotational basis in Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
