Voss replaces Peter Fischer, whose term as Germany's ambassador to Georgia ended on June 30, 2026

Barbara Voss has been appointed Germany's new ambassador to Georgia, the German Embassy in Tbilisi said on Thursday.

Voss replaces Peter Fischer, whose term as Germany's ambassador to Georgia ended on June 30, 2026. She has served as the designated ambassador in Tbilisi since August.

Voss previously served as consul general at Germany's Consulate General in Kolkata, India, from 2023 to 2026.

Her previous positions include deputy head of the Foreign Office's division for cultural and media relations with North Africa, the Middle East and the Maghreb, an adviser on international counter-terrorism cooperation, and postings at German embassies in Islamabad and Tel Aviv.

She also held positions at the German Foreign Office and served at German diplomatic missions in Lagos and Dar es Salaam, as well as at Germany's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.

Voss studied at the Federal University of Applied Administrative Sciences, Department of Foreign Affairs, and completed training for Germany's senior diplomatic service.
