Tbilisi, Georgia -Ukraine’s Chargé d’Affaires in Georgia Dmytro Berezhnyi held a meeting with the Secretary General of the ruling party Georgian Dream -Democratic Georgia and Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze, the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues that unite the Ukrainian and Georgian peoples, particularly Georgia’s support for Ukrainians since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to the embassy, the discussion highlighted the solidarity shown by Georgian institutions and citizens. Schools, kindergartens, hospitals, museums and other public institutions opened their doors and provided services free of charge to Ukrainian refugees.

The participants also emphasized the compassion demonstrated by ordinary Georgian citizens who welcomed Ukrainian families that had suddenly lost everything , their homes, their peaceful lives, and the opportunity to live safely in their own country.

“There are things that cannot be forgotten, and there are things that will always unite Ukrainians and Georgians. Unfortunately, we also share the pain of war,” the embassy noted, recalling that Georgia has also experienced destruction, devastation and the temporary loss of territories due to war.

The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to Kakha Kaladze and the Georgian people for their support during difficult times, including symbolic gestures such as lighting the Tbilisi TV Tower in the colors of the Ukrainian national flag and the many Ukrainian flags still displayed across the city.

“Such support is extremely important for us today,” the statement said.
