Police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Department have arrested two individuals - T.S., born in 1972, and V.S., born in 1985 - on charges of the illegal acquisition, possession and carrying of firearms and ammunition.

According to the Ministry, the offences carry a sentence of up to seven years in prison.

During searches of the suspects’ persons, homes, and auxiliary premises, law enforcement officers seized various types of firearms and ammunition, including:

  • 2 automatic firearms,

  • a pistol,

  • a small-caliber rifle,

  • an RPG launcher,

  • a hand grenade,

  • and 777 rounds of ammunition of different calibers.

Investigators also confiscated marijuana found during the search operations.
